Job Summary:


The Lead Certified Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for the technical and administrative operation of the laboratory office, phlebotomy, and specimen processing. Professional application of the laboratory's principles, theories, techniques of phlebotomy and specimen processing are used to organize and monitor the quality performance of the staff. This position reports to the laboratory manager/supervisor, and/or the administrative director of Laboratory services.


$5000 Bonus


Essential Job Duties:


Follows the hospital's policies and procedures and documents their review, and verifies staff reviews and follows policies.


Demonstrates ability to draw blood and the ability of the staff to draw blood on all age groups, following each step of the laboratory procedure.


Verifies that staff follows proper patient identification procedures.


Troubleshoots problems, documents specimen rejection, processes in-house and send-out specimens, and verifies staff does also.


Orients and trains new staff and continue to monitor the competency of all the staff with documentation.


Helps with scheduling and assigning duties for the Certified Phlebotomy Technicians. ? Performs other duties assigned by the lab manager/supervisor/lab administrative director.

Demonstrates cooperation, flexibility, reliability, and dependability in all daily work activities and a willingness to collaborate with others for the good of the customer and the organization.


Education/Experience:


Possesses a high school diploma and has a minimum of 2 years phlebotomy experience in an accredited hospital clinical laboratory. Previous leadership roles are desired.


Licensure/Certifications


Current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician License


BLS (Basic Life Support) Certificate
