Job Description and Duties Position is located in the City of Norwalk The Department of State Hospitals, Metropolitan State Hospital is accepting applications for Laundry Worker, permanent/full time. Working Title: Laundry Worker/GS-20/22-Varies. The department is seeking candidates with good people skills and excellent communication skills who are punctual and dependable with excellent attendance and have the knowledge of skilled work in washing operations in a state hospital laundry; to maintain and make minor adjustments to laundry machinery and equipment; to inspect clothing/linen for cleanliness, sort and distribute wearing apparel; clean equipment and work area, supervise, instruct organize, and work with employees and helpers from the individual population; and to do other work as required. May instruct, or lead patients. Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: Be knowledgeable in all policies & procedures in compliance with the hospital, and Title 22 requirements. Applicants must demonstrate professional interaction with individuals, staff and visitors, advice hospital staff and respond to questions about special sanitation.
