Job Description Job Description Position Summary: The Director
of Nursing – Nursing Administration provides centralized
operational leadership for hospital-wide nursing administrative
functions. This role oversees House Supervision, staffing
infrastructure, centralized nursing resources, specialty programs,
and education services to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant
operations across all shifts. This position functions as the
system-level operational extension of the CNO, ensuring continuity
of leadership, real-time decision-making authority, patient flow
optimization, regulatory compliance, and nursing workforce
strategy. CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. House Supervision & Hospital
Command Structure Direct oversight of Administrative Nursing
Supervisors (House Supervisors). Establishes operational authority
and escalation pathways for: Bed control and patient placement
Capacity management Emergency response coordination Rapid
operational decision-making Ensures consistent application of:
Title 22 staffing ratios EMTALA compliance Regulatory standards
Oversees after-hours administrative decision-making structure.
Develops standardized shift command protocols. 2. Staffing
Operations & Workforce Optimization Oversees centralized staffing
office. Directs float pool resource allocation and productivity
monitoring. Ensures staffing aligns with: Census Acuity Budget
targets Regulatory ratios Monitors labor cost drivers including:
Overtime Registry/agency utilization Premium pay Implements
predictive staffing strategies. 3. Throughput & Capacity Management
Oversees Discharge Lounge operations to improve bed turnover.
Collaborates with: ED leadership Case Management Hospitalists Leads
initiatives to improve: Length of stay Admission delays Transfer
efficiency Bed turnaround time 4. Specialty Nursing Programs
Oversight Provides executive-level oversight for: Wound Care
Program Dialysis services (in collaboration with Medical
Director/vendor) Line Team ARU nursing (if applicable) Ensures:
Documentation compliance Performance metrics tracking Regulatory
readiness 5. Nursing Education & Professional Practice Oversees
Nursing Education department. Ensures compliance with: Annual
competencies Skills validation Mandatory certifications Develops
workforce pipeline strategies. Supports leadership development
pathways. Aligns education initiatives with strategic growth plans.
6. Regulatory & Survey Readiness Maintains system-level survey
readiness. Ensures policies and procedures reflect current
regulations. Oversees hospital-wide compliance related to nursing
operations. Partners with Quality and Risk on corrective action
plans. 7. Financial Stewardship Develops and manages budgets for
administrative nursing services. Analyzes productivity benchmarks.
Leads cost containment strategies. Participates in capital planning
for centralized nursing resources. 8. Executive Collaboration
Serves as operational partner to: CNO/ACNO COO ED Medical Director/
Hospitalist Lead Case Management Therapy leadership Participates in
hospital command during emergencies. Represents Nursing
Administration in executive forums. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Minimum
Education MSN, MHA, or MBA required BSN degree required if graduate
degree is MHA or MBA Graduate of an accredited RN Nursing Program.
Preferred Education Advanced degree (DNP, FNP, DHA) strongly
preferred Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications Minimum 7
years acute care RN experience Minimum 5 years progressive nursing
leadership experience Prior House Supervisor leadership strongly
preferred Experience managing centralized staffing operations
required Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications NE-BC,
NEA-BC, CNL, FACHE or equivalent Professional Nursing Leadership
Certification from a nationally recognized organization upon hire
preferred Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or
Designation (List any licensure or certification required and
specify name of agency.) Current CA Registered Nurse license
American Heart Association BLS Card American Heart Association ACLS
Card NIH Stroke Certification within 30 days of hire Current Los
Angeles County Fire Card (or must be obtained within 30 days of
employment) Assault Response Competency (ARC) required (within 30
days of hire) NE-BC, NEA-BC, CNL, or FACHE required within 6 months
of hire Full-Time Exempt
