What we do:

Data is the backbone of Supernal from developing our autonomous air vehicles to building the global ecosystem for advanced air mobility to building, scaling, and running an efficient, effective, and data driven business. The Data team architects and manages AAM's internal data infrastructure, partners with users across the company to enable data driven solutions and runs strategic projects to stay at the forefront of data and analytical capabilities. The Sr. Cloud Engineer is responsible for the technical implementation and leadership of our engineering and core operations cloud data infrastructure. This role will partner with other systems, IT and network specialists to deliver a distributed computing best in class infrastructure that supports vehicle development and core business operations use cases.

What you can do:

  • Lead and support an MS Azure IaaS infrastructure. Design and deploy automated solutions for VMs, networks, storage, and other resources.
  • Advise and implement strategy for authentication flows and access controls. RBAC vs ACLs vs SAS vs Service Principal
  • Solve issues with VMs, services, integrations, and other major cloud infrastructure components. Use identity and access tools like AD / SSO.
  • Partner with internal customers to define requirements and implement new services.
  • Work closely with other members of the infrastructure team to integrate our public cloud with on premise and other hosted networks.
  • Manage inventory, develop support documentation for assigned services/ resources.
  • Monitor infrastructure for outages and related issues. Report breaches and other security incidents to management. Coordinate and support security and access policies.
  • Take an active part in strategic and operational management of the technology environment.
  • Contribute to the Data Infrastructure tech stack and roadmap specifically around reliability, scalability and performance. Deploy, configure, operationalize, maintain, and monitor our data solutions.
  • Regularly review existing infrastructure design, policies, and procedures to identify new opportunities and drive positive change.
  • Use tools to drive automation and growth at scale.
  • Ability to translate functionality into scalable, tested, and configurable platform software
  • Ability to select infrastructure components GPUs/CPUs based on the compute needs of the use case.
  • Work with multi-functional teams in an agile environment (familiar with Jira, Confluence). What you can contribute:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field
    • 5-8 years of applicable experience in engineering or similar role (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this role.)
    • Firm knowledge of working with Cloud Data Infrastructure products, preferably Azure
    • Strong experience with administering and managing data and data adjacent cloud services such as: Azure Storage Accounts (ADLS Gen2, Blob Storage), Container Instance, Kubernetes Service, VMs, Active Directory, VNet/Subnet/Gateways, Monitoring, and ML
    • Hands-on experience with design & implementation of IT infrastructure in public cloud / IaaS environments
    • Experience integrating AD or SSO with hosted services, knowledge of systems and network monitoring tools, and basic knowledge of VPN and other core networking concepts like DNS, DHCP, NAT, etc.
    • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet. Ability to demonstrate scripting skills in areas such as python, bash, PowerShell, or others to further drive automation and scale
    • Expertise in Windows/Linux system administration and virtualization technologies
    • Experience supporting helpdesk team members as an authority on private and public cloud You may also be able to contribute:
      • Master's Degree
      • Solutions Architect training & certifications from Azure (preferable), AWS or similar
      • Hands-on experience in hybrid architecture environments
      • Experience designing around compliance like PCI, HIPAA, FedRamp
      • Experience with private cloud and on-prem infrastructure design
      • Knowledge of containerization and auto scaling technologies

        Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.
        The pay range for this position is:
        $166,400 $232,960 USD
